Franny Slote is a licensed acupuncturist who brings a deeply personal, compassionate approach to care. Her path to acupuncture began as a teenage dancer seeking support for injury and pain, and evolved through lived experiences with chronic illness, recovery, and reconnection to the body. Those experiences continue to shape her work today, grounding her practice in empathy, curiosity, and respect for each patient’s individual journey.
Franny's practice at Olo Acupuncture offers patient-centered, community-based treatments in a supportive and accessible setting.
Franny commonly works with patients seeking support for:
She especially enjoys working with patients who are curious about their bodies and interested in developing a deeper, more integrated understanding of their health.
Franny views healthcare as a collaborative journey built on safety and trust. Her treatments are designed to cultivate a sense of deep rest and refuge, allowing the body to reconnect with its innate capacity for healing.
Patients often describe sessions with Franny as calming and grounding. She prioritizes clear communication and informed, empowered consent—encouraging patients to share feedback throughout the treatment so care can be adjusted in real time to meet their comfort level and needs.
Franny holds a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MSTCM) and is a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac) in New York State.
Her clinical training includes acupuncture externships at:
Franny also holds an MA in Politics & Cultural Studies from Freie Universität Berlin and a BA in History from Bard College. Her academic background, combined with years of dance and performance, informs a deeply embodied and integrative approach to care.
At the heart of Franny’s practice is a belief that acupuncture is a medicine for everyone. She is deeply committed to the community acupuncture model as a way to address gaps in healthcare access and to honor Traditional Chinese Medicine’s roots as a collective, inclusive form of healing.
Franny finds her work most meaningful when patients discover new ways of relating to their bodies—whether through pain relief, emotional release, imagery, deep rest, or subtle shifts in awareness. Supporting patients as they build their own relationship to the medicine, and to themselves, continues to inspire her daily practice.
Outside the clinic, Franny enjoys reading dark fantasy novels, puzzling, pole dancing, and taking long, dreamy walks through Greenwood Cemetery.
