Massage and acupuncture both work with muscle tension, but through different mechanisms. Massage uses manual pressure to release soft tissue; acupuncture works by inserting fine needles at specific points to trigger the body's own pain-relief and anti-inflammatory responses — including endorphin release and improved circulation. Some patients find that acupuncture reaches patterns of tension that massage can't fully resolve, and the two can complement each other well. We sometimes incorporate cupping or gua sha into a treatment as well.
