Sleep disruption during the menopausal transition can have several overlapping causes — night sweats, changes in how deeply you sleep, and heightened alertness that makes it hard to wind down. A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis published in PLOS ONE analyzed 28 randomized controlled trials and found that acupuncture significantly improved sleep quality, increased total sleep time, and reduced time lying awake in women with menopausal insomnia. Acupuncture can also support the nervous system’s ability to shift into a calmer state, which many patients notice during and after treatment. Results tend to build over a course of regular sessions.
