FAQ

Do acupuncture needles hurt?

Acupuncture needles are hair-thin and nothing like the hypodermic needles used for injections or blood draws. Most patients feel a brief prick or experience no sensation at all upon insertion. Once the needle is placed, you may notice a gentle throbbing, warmth, or a sensation of heaviness around the point — these are normal responses and are often described as relaxing rather than uncomfortable. We work with needle-anxious patients every day, and our practitioners are experienced at making the process as comfortable as possible. If you feel any discomfort during treatment, always let your practitioner know — adjustments can be made at any point.
