Dream Up Inspired New Year's Resolutions

December 19, 2012

You might be surprised to learn that acupuncture can help you conceive and express your New Year’s resolutions. Many of us use this time of year to start planning and even getting a head start on implementing our new year’s resolutions. But what if you are in need of some inspiration, or the normal resolutions just aren’t doing it for you this year? Perhaps you want something more meaningful, or you are looking for the motivation behind the resolution to help you stay the course. Here’s how an acupuncture treatment could help. Research shows that naps earlier in the day, when REM activity is higher, are best for complex learning, perception and creativity.

Acupuncture can help you enter these levels of consciousness and make the most of your nap time. If this sounds like something you would like to try

  • Schedule your next appointment as early as possible. Mornings or early afternoons are best.
  • Come in knowing what you want to work on. Writing it down is even better.
  • Let your practitioner know and he or she can support your process with some specific acupuncture points.

We’ve had patients come out of treatment with some amazing realizations. One patient left treatment with the title to her latest novel. Another patient realized that after years of living in the United States that he needed to take the time to reconnect with his family back in India. While we often unknowingly give our subconscious a problem to work on, doing so intentionally is a great tool. Acupuncture is just one way to help facilitate the process and it comes with many additional benefits as well. If you give it a shot and come up with something good, don’t be shy; we would love to hear what you have planned for the New Year.
